I want you to believe that when I come to visit you, it really is you I come to see.
You worry so about things like dust bunnies. I honestly have never seen one in your home. You tell me they are there, but I think they must be hiding in very far corners. It bothers me that the nasty little critters give you such grief and put such a furrow on your brow. They must be different from the dust bunnies in my house. Mine have free rein, multiply rapidly and never give me a moment’s worry. “Live and let live” as I always say.
You worry too about what to feed me. Let me put your mind at ease. I really don’t need a five course meal and three choices of dessert. It keeps you so busy serving that we don’t have time enough to talk. I am ashamed to admit that I could probably live a month off of my fat; so trust me when I say, I really just want to see you.
And please don’t feel the need to pull out the good china. Save that for strangers who want to be impressed. You know, I am a bit clumsy, so a mug I don’t need to worry about breaking would really help us both relax. I promise I never see wear marks or the crack where a handle has been glued on. If it was special enough for you to fix, I’m honoured you’d share it with me.
Please, let me tell you what I see when I come to visit you. I see someone who has wonderful stories to share and lessons to teach. I see a smile that lights up the room when I have good news. I see eyes that well up with tears when I am hurting. I see hands that love to serve, and arms that wrap me in love. I hope you see the same when you see me.
So, next time I come to visit, pour me a glass of water or a cup of tea and come sit with me. We’ll dream and scheme and laugh at the world. Tell me your stories and let me learn from you. Let your dust bunnies come a little closer and listen in. I’ll never see them, I promise. I’ll always see only you.

Great perspective- fantastic lesson. Great to hear the right priorities of relationships instead of House Beautiful! Congrats on your win. Blessings- Cindy
