Not so long ago, I saw Irene at church. Her face was pale and she was clearly in shock. I knew something was wrong and before I could ask her she blurted out, “I’ve lost all my capital! All my money for my retirement is gone! My broker left the country with all our money and no one knows where he is. I phoned his wife and she told me, that he had left her without a word. She is in debt up to her neck as well.” Irene’s face was as white as a sheet as she sat down in the chair with her face in her hands,” What am I going to live on? I’m too old to get a job! She exclaimed. I didn’t know what to say to her in her distress. All I could offer her was prayer. The whole church stood by her and prayed. The police had been notified and were pursuing the case.
Shortly after this incident Irene came with one glowing testimony after another, of how people in the body of Christ were helping her financially. They would stop her in the road and give her gifts of food and money. She thought she would have to get rid of her new Toyota Yaris that she had purchased three weeks prior to this incident, when someone came up to her and said ,” We will see to it that you can keep your car.” Irene was sharing testimony after glorious testimony of Jehovah Jirahs provision, love and care for her. She fully trusted in God for her every need and it was exciting to see how He provided.
I learnt that it doesn’t matter how much you prepare for your old age or your retirement on this earth, nothing is definite. We can make wonderful plans for our lives; have everything so perfectly organised, but the treasures we store up for ourselves on this earth can disappear in an instant. The Lord promises that he will meet our every need and most of us can testify to that. God has provided each one of us with an eternal retirement plan. He has gone to prepare a place for us forever. We will have need for nothing and there will be no more sorrow or tears in heaven. The best thing of all is that no one can steal or destroy the inheritance that the Father has for us.

I like the way you brought out the fact that you cannot depend on the things we have on earth but must put our faith in God.
