Our Emptiness, God’s Fullness

Throughout God’s word, and in everyday life, there are many times we see the concept of fullness and emptiness. God’s talks about the emptiness of our words or the fullness of our words, He talks about the clouds being empty and the clouds being full, the hearts of men being empty and full, and the list could go on and on. What do we do, however, when we, as believers, feel a sense of emptiness? When we think of the word empty we usually tend to think of something like a cup or bowl or some type of instrument of containment not having something inside. The bowl is empty. The cup is empty. The box is empty. However, there are other meanings of the word empty that go a bit deeper than simply whether or not a container has something inside. In 2 Kings 4:3, the scripture reads, “Then he said, ‘Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors- -empty vessels; do not gather just a few.” (NKJV) In this passage the word empty means worthless or idle. Isn’t it just like God to desire something worthless or idle be gathered and then used for His purposes? We know that in the beginning the Earth was without form and void; it was worthless and idle but a simple thought from the mind of God made the emptiness full and valuable. We struggle, sometimes, in our emptiness rather than viewing it as a prime opportunity for God to fill us with the things He desires. We must also understand that there are times when the things of the world are no longer things that we desire and when those things are gone our emptiness is God’s opportunity to manifest His fullness in our lives and as believers God desires to give us life and life more abundantly. In 1 Corinthians 10:26, the scriptures states, “the earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness”. (NKJV) The word fullness, in this scripture, means completeness, abundance, and power. As children of God, the God who is the owner of the earth and its completeness, its abundance and its power, we must set in our minds to not focus on our emptiness but on receiving the infilling that God desires for us. We must allow ourselves to be emptied that we may receive the fullness of Christ.

Your article is based on a good devotional thought.

It may be more easily read by dividing it into three or four paragraphs with a double space between paragraphs. Like this.

Keep writing. Don't be afraid to use words - they are your tools. Jesus said, "Handle Me and see..." and He is the ultimate Word. Let Him speak through you.
