The dreams of new Christians are often the same,
Inspiring to newfound heights,
Learning to walk in a newfound claim,
So, on Jesus they’ll set their sights.
The road of truth, preachers can grade out smooth,
Unconscious of a well-planed fate,
Never planning to deceive, yet a tactical move,
Satan smiles, and then lies in wait.
“The road to salvation? Follow the signs,
It’s golden, untwisted and clear,
Avoid the road that is bumpy and entwined,
For the Devil gate is near!”
The pastoral intentions are certainly pure,
As the message goes out from the heart,
Not wanting any to stumble or fall, I’m sure,
That is the insidious part.
Because, Satan knows a Christians weakness,
A child that is veiled in purity,
The lie may not be discovered in their meekness,
For their holiness is covered by obscurity.
It’s not their fault; they’re new to the game,
Not really a game, this is war!
As the new babe will grow, that smooth path will show,
“It’s not as easy as I’ve know it before.”
“The hook has been set, time to reel them in!”
As the Devil smiles with glee,
“When they find the road is uphill, they’ll be tired and still,
Think the path will set them free!”
“Jesus, where are You? I slipping back,
The path is covered with gravel!
And the incline is so steep, no footing can I keep,
My security is beginning to unravel!”
Yes my child, you may have never been told,
The wiles of the Evil One.
He will not deny, the bill of goods that was sold,
Planning to beguile the Son.
Of course God is not fooled, never to be overruled,
But the sons of God never the less,
For strategies sake, from the fiery lake,
On every side are constantly pressed.
And their minds have been molded, and shaped, and folded,
To except a most expected demise,
And give in when they’re slipping down the road that they’ve been told,
Was neither smooth nor was filled with white lies.
“Just repent and be blessed, God does the rest!”
And the ground keeps slipping away.
Where’s the trials, and tests? Aren’t they part of God’s blest?
“Indeed!” The serpent may say.
“It’s my favorite secret, the ambiguous road,
It’s the way I can hide in plain sight,
Knowing this I attest, you can lighten your load,
While I attack in the brightness of daylight!”
“Your preachers forget, that I’m defeated and yet,
I’m still loosed to wreak havoc on God’s seed,
I’m not complaining, it’s quite entertaining,
The secret I possess is your greed.”
“Your desire to walk into heaven unscathed,
Your robes still white from the election.
Did you really think hell’s surrendering flag waved,
Because you were under God’s protection?
Just then God spoke, “Enough of your lies,
Satan, you’ve twisted the truth of, “The Way!”
“Now it’s time to expose the “Lord Of The Flies,”
Saints, begin to rise up and pray!”
“Let not your head hang down, keep looking above,
And see the path that I’ve chosen for you,
It’s not the one made of glass, but the one made of love,
And it’s rough, and full of obstacles too!”
“Why? You may plead. It’s not one of greed,
That’s a scheme to get you off track,
The enemy knows that you all have a need,
But know the truth and be freed from the attack!”
“The true road with its pits and mounds and vines,
Provide you with perception when wrought,
If you slip on this path, it is then, that one finds,
A foothold, or hand grasp, and you’ve been taught.”
“So climb, and hold on, to life’s rocks and roots,
And avoid the mirages and quicksand,
Look for a knoll, and rest your soul,
And take hold as I reach out my hand!”
“The lesson my child is well worth the wait,
Don’t be too hard on God’s elected,
They labor, and sweat, and sometimes forget,
I am the chief cornerstone, the one whom the builders reject.
“The very thing, you may think at the time,
Was holding you back from my face,
Was My essence of loves, help as you climb,
Reach for God’s perpetual grace.”
