I love you all, but I can’t do it your way anymore. When God says its time to go, you go, and I just got the Almighty nod. I pray that I will see you soon on my new journey and that you will get to be part of whatever I’m about to be a part of.
I am getting tired of the inside of my beautiful cira1785 church. The tall white gathering house in the center of the small New England town where I live. I love this church and everything about it, but I just can’t do it this way anymore.
My circle of friends are the best anyone could ask for. They have shared and given me more than I could ever want. I have grown and learned so much from them that I should be a biblical scholar.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2 (NIV).
People are not doing this. Everyone is to busy with their latest gadgets and not paying attention anymore. It’s time to make a move. I can feel the Lord squeezing me and it’s difficult to breathe. I need some fresh air and try and walk this off.
I’m tired of being the victim of conversational gluttony. Overindulging in time wasting meetings and my share of overconsumption of people trying to fill my head with their mental masturbation nonsense.
I have to follow the Lord now. Not that I haven’t been, just not up to the standards it should be. It’s time for Him to know that I am ready to truly become His hands and feet. It’s time for Him to see that I’m ready to carry Him for awhile.
And when He looks down I want Him to see only one set of footprints, mine!
Its time to take care of the people that are hurting in our communities. Its time to help the homeless and start bringing them home to our churches. Feed them, keep them warm and help them to get back on their feet. Bring supplies and prayers to our shut-ins so that they can feel like that they’re part of the community.
Have our local high schools start having a food drive instead of charging an admission for one football game a year to keep the food banks full. Have the basketball teams do the same by having a sock and underwear drive to keep our shelters stocked. And so on and so on.
Its time to take the hangers off the coat racks inside the church, and hang them with coats on the tree out front. Time to hang other clothes on the pretty picket fence with those same hangers.
Time to place our used footwear on the front wall so someone has a place to sit down to try on a well deserved pair of shoes. It’s time to kick in the front door so someone can take one of the blankets that are stacked inside that they can’t get to because the front door is locked.
The food banks should be open every day. People are hungry every day and shouldn’t have to wait to eat. The food pantries should also have extended hours. You shouldn’t have to schedule when you can feed your family.
Do not conform to their ways and, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22 (NIV).
