“Jesus is an integral part of me. Just as you cannot divide a cell to remove one particle and think that what is left will be whole, you cannot remove Jesus from me and think that there will be a Pam. It’s not even possible.” Therefore, I notified her of my priorities, and left her office wondering where to look for work. But later that same day I was called back to her office. What she said was “When people turn in their two week notice, I always accept it and let them go. But you are the nicest person that I know and I don’t want you to leave.” I was asked to remain with the company and they would change their position. I was allowed to continue to share my faith as I always had, with wisdom and discretion.
A year ago, I was asked to join the Prayer Ministry team at church. During each service, shortly before the sermon begins, our Prayer Ministry Team stands in front of the altar. The minister invites any church attendee to come forward if there is a need in their life. We listen to their concern and join with them in prayer. Matthew 18:19-20 says “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Our prayers are joined in the common goal to overcome the obstacle in their life.
Over the course of this past year, I, myself, have been through some trials that were challenging to my heart and mind. I remember singing during the worship portion of our church’s service with tears running down my face. And then, all of a sudden, the song was done. It was time to go to the front and pray for others. “Wait….. Lord, how can I? I’m a total mess. I’m in need, how can I help anyone else?” But it was time, and I needed to go.
Wiping my tears best I could, I stepped out of my row. I walked to the front of the church, turned, and put on my biggest smile. I truly wanted anyone considering coming to the front to feel welcomed and wanted. A woman came and stood in front of me, she explained her dilemma and the reason that she was requesting prayer. And then it happened, I became powerful. A wolf is a powerful predator. I became that predator as we stalked her spiritual problem. We joined together and surrounded and killed the enemy that was sidelining her journey to kingdom living. She reported to me later that it was the solution to her problem, a permanent change had occurred that day. She was not turning back. My weakness became His strength. When I had nothing to give, He took over and ministered with power.
A sheep on the outside -- I look like a sweet, innocent, and soft spoken woman; but a wolf on the inside when there is a need. This woman of God reads her Bible, prays to her Heavenly Father, writes for His glory, and finds spiritual authority in daily life. I am, and will continue to be, God’s prayer warrior.
