On a mini shopping spree,
Rena spies in giant print --
Buy Two, get one FREE.
A bargain shopping expert
Rena races through the store,
Clutching tight, a metal cart
Whose wheels have left the floor.
The end cap with the sign affixed
Held boxes -- pastel tinted,
And in each one, a dozen cards
'Foiled, floral printed'.
Her thrifty self concluded
Such a find would bless so many,
Though, when she sampled written words
She found there weren’t any.
"Nonetheless," she reasons,
"I can make each one unique.
As certain need arises,
I'll just fill them with my ink."
Rena went to checkout
Content, she stood in line.
36 blank greeting cards
-- Exceptional design.
The first to be selected --
Her sister, fallen ill,
She thought until her brain hurt
'Twas creative overkill.
The card- not yet in transit
Had evolved to standard letter,
For her medicated sis was
Doing fine and feeling better.
Next, there was the birthday of
A cousin, aged nineteen.
Rena settled in her chair
And sipped on her caffeine.
Her thoughts became erratic.
The pen refused to write.
She'd consumed a pot of coffee.
Couldn't sleep throughout the night.
The next day Rena took a nap
Her energy deflated.
Woke to find she'd missed the bash
Her wishes now belated.
Rena received invite to
Attend a baby shower.
With her gift, a Hallmark Card
...Some things we should leave to the experts.

I was over on mission in Papua New Guinea and missed my boyfriend's birthday and so asked the team to all write him a message for me to give him on my return.
Love what my room mate Rani, wrote: May your camels only spit dates - many blessings to you.
Thanks - Colin
