In the bush I wander
Alone, just on my own.
I marvel at the beauty
Of this place I've never known.
The trees rise high in grandeur
As if to touch the sky,
And plants beside the track
Seem to laugh as I walk by.
My eyes peer through the darkness
Where the bush is very dense.
A bird sends out a call
Awakening my ear sense.
I listen in the stillness
And hear a mountain stream,
A pigeon on the wing,
Startled it would seem.
I keep walking on the pathway
As the bush now thins a bit,
And dappled patterns dance,
As the light through trees does flit.
I find a perfect site
And sit upon a seat,
With that burbling river
Splashing near my feet.
The light now streams in brightly
Between trees on either side,
Making the water sparkle
In unrestricted pride.
I ponder on the meaning
Of all the things I've seen,
The enchantment of the bush
And the quiet peace serene.
My mind goes to my maker
The creator, God my Lord,
Who made this place of wonder
With things all in accord.
I say a prayer to thank Him
For helping me to see,
His light shines in the darkness
Like the sun shines through a tree.
