Tonight, I’ll be able to peek inside the swell of breaking surf and see the inside of a sea wall---my private Red Sea---and maybe I, too, will glimpse the miraculous when all of nature stops so that God can perform a miracle and make something beautifully unexpected happen, all for the glory of His name.
He likes this. I know He does. Why else would he light up the ocean or have Jesus build a campfire to fry fish on the beach in Galilee? Why else would he gather a whole nation to walk through a Sea World exhibit in the midst of running for their lives? God loves joy in an almighty way as much as He constructs a universe that lives by His rule.
Though tides flow relentlessly, God is watchful and calls me to a place where I will experience His forgiveness more vividly than ocean flora. I will press my toes in the sand, press hard for myself and a little boy, and the Lord will wash over my imprint with a tender grandeur and I will be forgiven and we will be healed on the beach at red tide.
