I was just a little boy when my mom took me on a downtown shopping date--
Outside, I blinked my eyes as big fresh snowflakes fell on my face...
It was Christmas-time with real trees and big lights flashing;
Wonderful decorations filled the store windows and the streets!

It was an amazing adventure--just to have my mom all to myself--
I was determined to be a good boy that day, just like Santa said...
There was one store I really looked forward to being at that night:
It had a train to ride in that was hung from the ceiling up high!

My mom was so nice, she let me ride in it not just once, but twice!
It was the best Christmas ever--such joy, such love, such peace...
I hugged my mom and thanked her for such a special time with her--
As I wished and hoped that night would last forever, and ever!

Finally as we rode the city bus home, I fell asleep in my mom's lap,
She just smiled at my rosy little cheeks, just happy I was glad

What a fun time to remember. I remember the Christmas window decorations in St. Louis as a child. Wonderful memory piece.

A sweet memory to document! Try a longer one next time, maybe with more rhyme. :) Keep writing! Blessings, Jo

A sweet childhood memory. It's wonderful how things make a lasting impression on our minds when the experience is beautiful.

Ah, magical Christmas time through the eyes of a child. One of my favorite topics. These are the moments that stand out in our memories. As I go about events with my grandchildren, I need to remember how sharpened their senses are to things like this. I am, without my knowledge, carving out my legacy as I create these special memories in the life of a child. Thank you for this sweet reminder that life is a wonderful journey, praise God.
