A walk down to the river
It was a short walk
The river was close
But it took her a million miles away.
In times of joy
In times of sorrow
In times of contemplation
The river was always there
Running high and fast
Slipping by icy and cold
Moving on past in a mellow slide…
She walked along its banks
Thinking, crying, praying, hoping…
Watching the river always taught her something
Something of life…
Life and its twists and turns
Life and its fast currents
Life and its slow trickles
Life and God above.
The God who created the river
Who created her…
Who loves her…
The God who watches as she walks the along river
Listening to see if she will call
Call upon His name.
If so He is delighted
Delighted to meet her by the river.
“He who believes in Me,
as the Scripture has said,
out of his heart will flow
rivers of living water.”
~ Jesus in John 7
