I plan to query DOG FANCY about writing an article on the canine papilloma virus. I am interested in feedback on the content and layout of my letter. Thanks!

Dear Mr. Sloan,
A few weeks ago, my best friend grinned up at me, revealing a horrible, pea-sized growth on his lower lip. We were beginning one of our frequent walks in the woods, so I assumed it must be an engorged tick. On closer inspection, what I had taken to be a tick, looked more like a tiny cauliflower. Prickly, little white legs grew in all angles from its surface. This was no ordinary tick.
The canine papilloma virus is one of the most common viruses that dogs can carry. Usually, it attacks dogs with weak immune systems, especially elderly dogs and puppies. Dog warts look threatening, but usually are not malignant. There are precautions that a conscientious owner can take to prevent dog warts, and steps that must be taken while the dog is contagious.
As a seasoned writer and devoted dog mom, I propose writing an article on the prevention, management and treatment of canine papilloma virus. My parents gave me my first subscription to DOG FANCY when I was 13, and 18 years later it is still my favorite magazine.
The article will run approximately 1,000 words and include two quality digital photographs. I can include a sidebar listing quality vitamins to improve a dog’s immune system and lessen their chances of contracting the virus.
For expert information, I will interview my veterinarian, Alex Colvin, DVM. I will also reference two credible websites that I found helpful when my own dog contracted the canine papilloma virus.
Thank you for your consideration of this article. I hope to hear from you soon.
