Years ago Robert Goulette sang with such conviction, a song that went, “If ever I would leave you, it wouldn’t be in summer. Leaving you in summer, I never could go. Oh, no not in spring time, summer, winter or fall. No never could I leave you at all.”
That’s how God feels about his children. He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” Sure it’s wonderful to have someone who feels that way about us in the physical world. But there are those quiet moments, hours, and even days of need that only our Heavenly Father can recognize within us. Those quiet often-unfulfilled moments of anguish can be prevalent during the holiday seasons. But it is a need that only God can meet no matter the season. You would be wise to recognize that and start getting your deepest needs met.
Fortunately, with many the need for Him is constant and ongoing. For once you've tasted of the goodness of God, you cannot live without Him. Oh to be loved by God, to see His hand moving throughout one's daily life. What unspeakable joy, to think the Lord of Lords cares about the things that concern us. Who's love is endless and forever merciful to pardon our offenses.
To be God conscience throughout one’s day opens up a reality of promises to be fulfilled and great expectations. The strength to meet the challenges of the day. Fresh oil in our vessels that we might see our way through the wilderness and even "... through the valley of the shadow of death ..." "His word is a lamp unto our feet, a light unto our path."
And if we falter, the confidence to know that He loves us still. Christ’s precious blood was shed to atone for a flawed world, which grants us the privilege to resume our relationship through repentance and receive the forgiveness of God. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Oh what love is this that never tires, who's hand is stretched out to welcome us into His arms as prodigal sons and daughters when we have strayed away. Oh what love is this that never turns His back on us, who cares about the little things that some take for granted (an extra blanket to keep us warm). To be loved so much that, "He knows the number of hairs on our heads." "The thoughts he has of us are too numerous to be counted, as the grains of sand." "There is no love liken unto His love." "God is Love."
