Love Must Prevail

Love must prevail
Every minute of the day
We never know
When a test has passed our way

A brother offends
A car cuts us off
A child screams
An unbeliever scoffs

A dog barks
The tub overflows
The doorbell rings
When we are not yet, in clothes

We get a call
Someone shouts
Our kids just made a mess
Or because we said no, they pout

The computer fries
For a new one, we don’t have the cost
We worked all day
But yet, all our work was lost

Our neighbor complains
We want to say, so long
There are just so many things
Which seem to go wrong

During these times
Of complete duress
Our love must prevail
Though difficult, I must confess

The more that we become
Like God’s living word
The more that we allow
Jesus to become our Lord

Then the greater love
Will come as we pray
For self to die out
We must walk in Him, today.

Love must prevail
As all else is sin
Yet the only way it can happen
Is less of us, and more of Him.
