We Must Call the Right Number

How often to we have a need and we call the wrong number? If we have a need for a plumber, we don’t call an electrician do we? Maybe we need to think about this concerning spiritual things.

The Bible says:

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. KJV

I see some conditions in this passage that we need to be aware of.

First, we must humble ourself. We must get to the place that Jesus alone is Lord. We need to give up our control and place total trust in Him. We must acknowledge that he is not only able but he is willing. It is all about what He wants, not about what we want. A humble person will not take God’s Glory as they know where their power, strength, words, miracles, gifting, all come from.

Next we must pray. Prayer is a minimum of two things. Not only is it us communicating our need or desire with God, it is learning to listen to what His need or desire is. Real prayer brings intimacy with the Holy Spirit. It is so easy to just go ask God to do some things and then just go our own way. Do we ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, that God has a plan for us that we have never stayed still before the Lord and found out what it was?

Next we must seek His face. This entails us being persistent in finding out what God wants. Sometimes we get a misconception of our role with God. We gave our lives to Jesus as Savior but have we made him Lord? Do we desire what He wants over what we want for self? What are our priorities? Jesus told us that if we will seek, that we will find. That is a promise we can stand on and believe.

Next we must turn from our wicked ways. This means repent. This means acknowledge all of our sins, faults, and failures to the Lord and ask for His forgiveness and power to change. We must also forgive our self. Jer 5:25 says: Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. Sin is a blockage from receiving from God. A humble person keeps all their sin acknowledged to the Lord. Nothing is hidden as God sees it all anyway.

God said that if we will do these things that he would:
1. hear from heaven
2. forgive their sin
3. heal their land

We do our part, and then we can come before God with boldness yet humble and stand upon His word. We can boldly remind Him of what He said and know that He will hear and answer us.

Now about the right number. Often instead of doing what I wrote above, we either try in our strength, or call another person. Another person is a wrong number unless they are led and anointed of the Lord to help in our situation. Isaiah 30 and 31 are two books’ we need to all study. Isaiah talks about rebellion. God said that it is rebellion on our part if we trust in man or in flesh, and not in His Spirit. Has anyone ever been rebellious? God wants us to go only to Him. He desires that we trust only in the Holy Spirit, not our self or another person. The right number then is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead, guide, protect, provide, heal, deliver, give gifts, give the fruit of the Spirit, will empower, will talk through us, will teach us, and so much more. This number is fabulous. Can you get any of this from any other number? I sure can’t. So what is the number? How do I call?

Lu 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? KJV

You must just ask. Spend time in prayer and develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit by being quiet and listening. Learn to listen to that inner voice, not your head. He will lead you on if you will allow Him too. May you be blessed on your new adventure with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
