Who do you know, is there anyone in your circle of friends, who can pierce through the dark clouds with sunshine? Is there anyone you know who can calm the raging sea? Christ said, “In this life you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” The same God who can calm the raging sea can also give you peace in the midst of the storms of life. Can anyone else you know do such a thing? Don't take God for granted; he's always trying to get your attention. He wants you to see how much He loves you.
The Bible speaks of; “King Hezekiah who began to rein over Judah when he was 25 years old and he reined 29 years in Jerusalem. King Hezekiah did that which was good in the sight of the Lord." He did not take God for granted. He was not sinless, no man is, but he was one who observed his sins with a penitent heart to maintain a right relationship with the Lord God Almighty. But the day came when King Hezekiah was sick unto death.
II Kings 20:1-11
In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying, I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in they sight. And Hezekiah wept sorely.
And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him saying,
Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord.
And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Aayria; ...
And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, "What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up in the house of the Lord the third day?"
And Isaiah said, "This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?"
And Hezekiah answered, "It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees."
... And the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz."
This of course meant that the sun had to move backwards in the midst of the day. This was the sign that King Hezekiah would live and not die. And the Lord added 15 years to his life. What a friend! Do you know anyone who can extend your life beyond a terminal diagnosis? Only God is able to answer when man is rendered powerless.
Who can you call on to help you in your hour of need? Would the bank President answer your call of need? For that matter no money market dividends can compare to God's kingdom principles of tithing, reaping and sewing multiplied 10, 30, a hundred fold.
But wealth and position on this earth are temporal. It cannot obtain your entrance to heaven. So don't think that material success gives you favor with God. "God has no respect of person." There's nothing wrong with having wealth and in most cases it is God who grants it. But it must never replace your need for Him. If that happens, then your wealth becomes an idol and you a slave instead of your wealth serving you and God.
So unless you want Him to take you for granted, don't take God for granted. If you live life taking God for granted the day will come that you will knock upon the doors of heaven seeking entrance to eternal life, and He will say, "Depart from me, I never knew you." When we die, we need a place to go because God has given us eternal spirits. After death we have two choices - heaven or hell - and they are both real.
In fact the Bible speaks of, "The wealthy man who died and opened up his eyes in hell. He could see across the gulf where Lazarus, the poor man who used to beg for crumbs at his gate, who's sores the dogs licked, was in heaven being comforted in the bosom of Abraham. And the rich man begged to Abraham, "Please send Lazarus to cool my tongue with a drink, for I am tormented in these flames." Abraham told him that was not possible. Then he begged that Lazarus return to life and warn his brothers so they too would not come to this place. (hell) Again Abraham denied him saying, "If they would not believe the prophets, then they will not believe"."
So don't take God for granted in this life. Anyone can make the choice to accept Jesus Christ into his or her heart and receive salvation unto eternal life. It cost you nothing, because Jesus paid the price for you. You may still be wealthy after that, but you will view things more from God's perspective.
