Though not always at my side
But a loyal and devoted friend
It appears in my most desolate times
It just sits there, not beckoning,

Although I cannot identify fully with the feelings you powerfully express here there is a resonance for me, and I feel that in some ways we have trod the same path as we watched helplessly by. I thank God for the strength given to me and to my husband as he suffered serious illness, and pray for you and others who find themselves in need of Christs help. It does not always seem to be there, but I feel that if we can only open ourselves He will pour into us all manner of good things to help and sustain us in difficult times. God Bless.
