GOD DOES NOT FIGHT FOR EVERYONE
God is committed to those who are committed to Him. God loves every one but there are those He loves with a great love. There are those set apart for Him by reason of covenant. Covenant speaks volumes. It is a binding agreement between parties where the strength of one party belongs to other and so are the weaknesses. It is marked by a covenant cutting, the mingling of blood, a covenant meal, exchange of names and exchange of belt. In moments of weakness or crisis, the other party is bound to respond- not feel sorry. This is similar to the covenant we have with God through Jesus Christ. God becomes our covenant partner. He is committed to us and so are we to Him. Our fight becomes His fight and so is His fight our fight. Since God has no weakness, we win on all counts in this relationship as long as we remain committed to Him. Our enemies may think they have the upper hand for some time but when God rises in our defence, they stand no chance. In fact at times He will so deal with them that we would have pity on them. A picture of this type of covenant relationship can be seen between David and Jonathan in 1Sam.18:
And when it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and the garments, even to his sword, and to his girdle. Vs1,3,4
By stripping himself of his coat and handing it over to David Jonathan was saying, ‘From today your fight is my fight, your enemies will be my enemies, my strength is your strength.’
Little wonder he was prepared to oppose his father in support of David. It is the power of covenant at work.
When Jesus died on Calvary’s cross, there was an exchange that took place. He took our infirmities our failures our inadequacies, our sins our weakness and gave us His strength, his ability His victory.
Jesus took the cuttings through the piercing on five parts of His body, the head, the side, the feet, the hands, and the stripes on his body. The covenant meal was the Passover meal. The exchange of names was when He calls us by His name- Christians. Though this was historical in that they disciples were first called Christians in Antioch, it was also prophetic.
When he said, ‘It is finished!’ He was not saying He was finished, but that He had finished the work God the Father gave him to do. Salvation was accomplished for ‘whosoever believes’. By that act we who were dead in trespasses and sin were raised together with him and seated with Him in heavenly places far above principalities and powers because we were crucified with Him and hence raised together with Him. Our fight is His fight, our enemies his enemies and his victory, our victory.
So when God changed Abram’s name to Abraham appending part of His name (’ha’) to him, what was He expressing? Covenant of course! He did the same with Sarai- changing her name to Sarah. From then on whoever touches Abraham touches God. King Abimelech found out when he tried to mess with Sarah. God approached him in a dream and told him, ’You‘re a dead man’ Gen. 20-:’ for the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.’ V18
When Jacob faced hostile Philistines who relentlessly blocked his wells God fought for him and enabled him to prevail. Gen. 26:17-25
WHAT IS THE BASIS OF THIS FIGHT?
Just as Jonathan fought for David because of Covenant, so God fights for us because of covenant, hence it refers to the blood of Jesus as the’ blood of the eternal covenant’
The basis of this fight is covenant. How do we enter into covenant with God? When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. God becomes our Father. We then have a divine right to use His word as long as we are obedient to Him. We do not live any how and except God to fight for us. We must me committed to Him not just in word but also in deed. We cannot play Church and expect God to fight for us. We cannot sit on the fence and enjoy the privileges of being the children of God.
Offer to God thanksgiving,
Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
16 But to the wicked God says:
“What right have you to declare My statutes,
Or take My covenant in your mouth,
17 Seeing you hate instruction
And cast My words behind you?Ps50 :14-17
In other words if you will not come to God in His own terms ,if you will do what you like, if you will not submit your self under His mighty hand, if you will not come to the cross as you are but depend on your righteousness, forget it. It also means if you will only accept Jesus with your mouth and will not put your money where your mouth is, if you will disobey Him at will, He will not fight for you. You’re on your own. Also if you will see evil and call it good, are given to slander, gossip and backbiting, you fuel the strength of your enemies and God is not on your side.
God wants to be on your side today. But for Him to do so, you have to be totally committed to Him- not half-heartedly- not one leg in and the other leg out. There is no sitting on the fence with God. You’re either for Him or against Him.
And if you are totally surrendered to Him, He is for You and will fight for you. Those that have come against you in one way will flee in seven ways. They do not know what they are doing. They are building a plat form for your promotion. The evil that they plan will work out for your good. You will not go under for going over because the Lord Himself will fight for you.
Therefore see with the eyes of faith the angel of the Lord that surrounds those who fear and love Him. They are ministering spirits called to serve the redeemed of the Lord.
Speak and confess the promises of God back to Him. And as you do you will be dishing out angel food. They are not moved by your tears but by the word of God which you speak in faith. Stand therefore to see the salvation of the Lord. Let God fight for you because the battle is not your but His. And when He does, He will burst the bubbles of your enemies, birth a blessing through the battles, giving you a testimony from your tests and trials.

Well written and inspiring, Fenny. Is Brother Bill implying you lack faith? I don't see anything in the article to support that, or maybe he didn't mean it that way.
