“YES” and “AMEN” (2 Corinthians 1:17-22)
“Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be ‘Yes, yes’ and ‘No, no’? But as God is faithful, our word to you was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No’. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us – by me, Silvanus and Timothy – was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No’, but in Him was ‘Yes’.
For all the promises of God in Him are ‘Yes’, and in Him ‘Amen’ to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” (NKJV)
When Paul wrote these words to the Corinthian church, he was assuring them that he would keep his promise to come to them, and that he would visit them after his time in Macedonia. For us today, these words are fresh manna from the Father and a reminder that God thinks about you and makes good plans for your life.
1) Daddy God thinks about you. He makes plans for you, and they are good plans. (Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope”. You may be faced with a decision today and not sure about which way to go, but you can seek the face of the Lord and receive His direction for you. There are many people who may feel that they stumbled into their job, or just happened to find their life partner, but it was really the hand of God on your life, guiding you into His plans for you. So do not despair, precious child of God, even if there have been some steps you have taken in your life which you know were your own and not the Lord’s. He works even beyond our own mistakes and limitations because He is God! “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:28 & 29). He can turn anything around – He the God for whom nothing is impossible! He has a specific purpose and calling for your life. He lovingly crafted you in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13) and brought you into this world to fulfill a purpose which is uniquely for you. If you are someone on the brink of a new season in your life and really needing some guidance for the future, know that Psalm 139:16 says that all your days have already been written by the Lord. King David wrote in Psalm 31:14 & 15 “But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord. I say ‘You are my God”. My times are in your hands.” God has great plans for His kids, and if we seek His direction, we get to walk in the power of His plans and the fullness of His will. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.” (Psalm 32:8).
2) God is faithful and He keeps His word to you. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He never changes His mind. (Hebrews 13:8). Hebrews 10:23 says: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful”. Perhaps you have questions in your heart about why you have not seen a prophecy or ‘word’ fulfilled in your life. Hold fast to your confession dear friend, because He who promised truly is faithful, and “Great is His faithfulness”. (Lamentations 3:23). If you feel your faith is not what it was, just ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with faith, and help you to believe for everything that has been promised to you. Know that as you continue to believe and walk in the Word of God and in expectation of its complete fulfillment, this is what you will receive. Our faithful Father will never let you down. He is not a man that He should lie or change His mind (Numbers 23:19), and you are His precious child and He loves you!
3) His promises are all assured – they are all ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ for us. When Jesus gave up His life on the cross for you and me, His blood made it possible for us to walk in all power and victory. Jesus spoke the ‘yes’ for us on all of the Word of God, when He defeated sin and death and arose on the third day. His blood spoke a louder and better word than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24). His blood speaks forgiveness, redemption, atonement and new life. His blood speaks healing, wholeness, deliverance and prosperity. The blood of Jesus says ‘yes’ on our behalf, while the ‘Amen’ is spoken by each of us as we agree and in faith, reach up and receive everything already won for us through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. His promises are all “Yes” and “Amen” for you and me! I want to have everything my Lord suffered and died to give me. Today I agree with the voice of the blood of Jesus and say a loud “AMEN” to every promise in the Word of God – I pray you do the same too!
4) The Holy Spirit is our guarantee of everything Jesus has promised. When Jesus returned to Heaven, He promised His disciples that they would not be abandoned or left as orphans (John 14:18). The Holy Spirit would be sent to teach and guide them into the fullness of the life Jesus had already given to them. “And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be with you. The blessed Spirit is with us and in us. He is our guarantee and ‘down payment’ of all the good things already released for us. It is He who takes us from glory to glory through each day in the love and protection of Abba God. As we live in Him, we receive faith to believe and step into the favor, fullness and blessing which are ours through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Precious son or daughter of the King of kings, you are appointed, you are anointed, you are robed with the righteousness of Jesus and crowned with His calling. God has filled you with His Spirit so that you can walk into all the abundance of His love for you, and live a life that is free, healthy and blessed.
I declare over you today that God has good plans for you. He has chosen you and called you, and released for you every blessing you could ever need. Know that you are His very own chosen treasure and His holy habitation! Whatever you have been waiting for in your life, let us agree today that it is ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’ in the mighty name of Jesus, as we call forth into our lives everything that Jesus died to make possible. May you walk in all the healing, freedom and prosperity the blood of Jesus speaks on your behalf from this day forth, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
