Where have all the hungry lawyers gone, the ones who are in need of work? I called several medical malpractice law offices today and they only want the drastic cases, the ones that will bring in the big bucks. My life has been seriously disrupted, curtailed, limited, painful, and restricted. I'm retired so I'm not losing work. Nothing to go after there for a percentage. What about justice and stopping the doctor from repeating the same poor work on someone else?

Several offices I called said they had a conflict of interest with the group to which my doctor belongs. That's handy! I was told by one lawyer I would have to go way out of town to find someone as the group my doctor belongs to is huge and powerful. It will be difficult to find someone as an expert witness to testify against him.

I will still file a report with the State Board of Health. I doubt whether they will find it misconduct to put in larger hardware than the foot area could accommodate. The fact that I was in off-the-chart pain for nineteen hours was probably simple miscommunication. The pain I experienced for nine months was my fault.

The third surgery to remove the hardware caused more trauma to my foot and the anesthesia caused me heart problems which led to a heart cath which provoked paroxsymal atrial fibrillation. I turned out to be allergic to coumadin so my increased risk of stroke remains. I still can't walk without crutches. Forget trying to walk barefoot! I have a power chair to use in the house but I can't afford a ramp to be built nor to buy a vehicle I could get into with my chair. My independence is being taken away far too soon. Why? Because of three foot surgeries. two which were botched.

It may not require hundreds of thousands of dollars to satisfy the needs I have to maintain my independence. No lawyer wants a small pay day. I'm looking for a lawyer who is hungry and in need of food that has half a brain and could work this out for me. I am not a greedy person.

I go to pool therapy twice a week and soon will be running out of my allotment. I see a massage therapist who is not covered by insurance even though she works in a hospital. My doctors are not local. My PCP is in another state fifty miles away. One of them is in the same state but are thirty miles away. Another doc is ninety miles away, again in the same state. Travel is expensive, but not as costly as a bad doctor!

I've had two dealings with lawyers in my life and neither was positive. One was a Christian, at least that's what was said about him. He cheated me out of a lot of money. It took my daughter-in-law's father, a member of the NYS Bar, to go after him five months after we signed papers to get our money.I'm not sure what he said but it got action.The other was not a professed Christian and he, too, took advantage of my situation and I lost all my medical records and more money than I should have. He sent them off without making copies! He knew I would get Social Security Disability on the first try and had me sign a paper givng him a flat rate. All he did was walk across the street from his office to the federal building and get the papers. An agent and myself did the rest of the work. I did get it on the first try. I protested the amount of payment he received for doing nothing. Of course, they found in his favor.

We, the general joe, have lost much freedom and representation. We are worthless worms to the established money people. How did it happen? We were fairly trustworthy - bad. We lacked experience - sad. We believed in a system that once existed but has since slipped through our fingers as we haven't been taking the pulse of our legal system. Honesty does not exist in many areas of our lives today. It is long overdue for us to take an interest in our legal system. We vote for people but we don't really know their record and where they stand on seeking justice for the guy who can't afford the high priced lawyers. Lawyers are not treated equally. Go sit in a waiting room for a court case and you can see the most fantastic wardrobes going along with perfect hair and nails. I've watched and felt humiliated by the treatment given in those waiting rooms depending on the clothing or appearance of the people there. Lawyers from legal aid don't have the advantage of perfect wardrobes and appearance. They may work hard but going up against the established, polished lawyers, they lack something in the eyes of the judges.
Is there such a creature as an honest lawyer who is more interested in helping people than helping himself? Comments, please.
