IT'S TIME TO BE HEARD-SPEAK UP, AMERICANS!

ARE YOUR EYES OPENED YET?
This world is going crazy and people need to speak up about the injustices that seem to be rolling over us. Have you noticed our freedoms have been taken away over the last several years? Have you read the decisions of a number of judges making laws? That's not their job. They are to uphold the law, not create it. That's why we have legislature bodies.

The Federal government is invading the rights of states with stimulus money with strings attached. Those strings will change state laws and impose even greater tax burdens on the local people. The taking over of banks and car companies by the government was not the vision of the founding fathers. How did the President get such power? It's not in the Constitution. Remember that document that served this country for years saving democracy for the people? What's happened to it?

Let me bring it a little closer to home to a place where your voice needs to be heard, a place where you need to get your head out of the sand, and to take a stand for things you know are right. Senior citizens, you may be the only ones to remember some of the things I have spoken of. You need to be vocal and educate the younger generations. They are not being taught what we were taught about the founding of this country. They don't know the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob who founded this land. They don't understand the importance of right and wrong in their daily lives, their community's life, or what a spiritual life in a Jesus offers. They steal from their places of business under the guise it's okay to take stuff. They take sick days when they are not sick. Harmless things they think. Not so. They may not be Barney Madoffs, but stealing is stealing.

Look at the horror of Wall Street. Do you have investments? How much have you lost? What are you doing about it?

People should be outraged at medical errors! The cost of services and what doctors charge, we should have extremely fantastic care. Medicare fraud is taking place everyday and we, those who have Medicare, should be checking for it. If you find it, report it.

Become a doctor police. Go after poor doctors. The laws don't make it easy and results are not shared which is not an encouragement to people to take time to write. Write to the State Heath Department. Laws were passed that give only two and a half years to file a lawsuit that you have been permanently injured. Sometimes certain conditions take longer than that to show up as permanent. Laws need to be changed.

One thing I, as a handicapped person treasures, is my independence. I can still drive so I have a degree of freedom that I enjoy. I don't have to wait on my daughters having time or my husband coming home from work. I go when I'm at my best and get the job done.

There's one thing that is most frustrating and I can't be the only one who feels this way. There are precious few enough handicapped parking places as it is, but when I see a driver sitting in the car, I boil. Whoever they had with them could just as easily be dropped off and then they could go and find a regular spot and watch for them to come out. I wouldn't be driving around and around, waiting and waiting, for someone to come out if that place was available.

I went to a cop and complained. He agreed with me but says there is nothing in the law that says that person can't sit there and wait. We need to change the law. Another complaint I heard is there are too many handicapped stickers being issued. Perhaps the standards aren't stringent enough.

I've also seen where a person who is sitting in the car is obviously elderly or handicapped. It makes me wonder about who parked there and in what condition are they.

Changes can only be made when enough people are aware of the need for changes and then have the gumption to do something about it. Probably for most of us, the best thing we can do is write or phone our representatives and contact organizations that support our cause.

I wrote my assemblyman once. Never received a reply. Obviously once isn't enough and one person isn't enough. If you feel as I do that changes need to be made, email [email protected] .Let's get active. Start with the small things and move to the grander.
