"If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety- nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray." Matthew 10. 12,13
My nephew at age 14 accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour. In 2011. Now he has a daily personal relationship with him, is born again, and is Holy Spirit baptised. It is not just Jesus who is rejoicing over him, or those in heaven, but also his close family and true Christian friends. If there is one thing that has me rejoicing in the last few years, it is the salvation of my nephew.
Suddenly, almost overnight it seems he has become a massive asset, more than he was before. Now we have another prayer warrior in the family, and the prayer burden for other members to be saved has eased.
His father, my brother must be rejoicing that after 14 years plus of praying one of his sons now knows Jesus personally, and is walking with him daily. At last the torch has been passed to the next generation and that makes me glad. Part of the work is done, to make the next generation true Christians.
When we drive to sports venues, my nephew and I now talk about God and faith. We edify each other, and pray for each other in our own time. Time with him is often more meaningful because of his faith. We also have light and easy talks about sports and other things. His zeal and curiousity about God and Godly things is enlivening and contagious. He often enthuses my faith.
God can do astonishing things within your family. As long as you persevere with him. Never underestimate what God will do for you. He may surprise you yet.
