THEN GOD SAID, "LET THE LAND PRODUCE VEGETATION: SEED-BEARING PLANTS AND TREES ON THE LAND THAT BEAR FRUIT WITH SEED IN IT, ACCORDING TO THEIR VARIOUS KINDS." AND IT WAS SO. THE LAND PRODUCED VEGETATION: PLANTS BEARING SEED ACCORDING TO THEIR KINDS AND TREES BEARING FRUIT WITH SEED IN IT ACCORDING TO THEIR KINDS. AND GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD. AND THEIR WAS EVENING AND THEIR WAS MORNING-THE THIRD DAY. (NIV)
This is the second part of God's creative work on "day" three.
God now causes the "land" to produce vegetation according to their "kinds."
The words "seed", "trees", and "fruit", are the Hebrew nouns "zera", "es", "peri", and mean "semen" or the "embryos of any plant species."
So God put the "embryos" of every plant in the first vegetation that He created.
Understand though, this does not mean that there was no vegetation before this. There probably was plenty of primitive plant life on the ocean floor.
At this time God caused the "Dry" land to begin to produce "vegetation." He may have done this with natural causes that He put in the Earth "In the beginning" or through His direct supernatural creation at this time. He may have put the ingredients in the Earth and caused them to grow now that the time was right.
"ACCORDING TO THEIR KINDS"
This is one of the biggest downfalls of evolution. Plants produce according to their kinds. The embryos for all plants were created by God and God allowed plants to have the ability to vary and change within their own "kinds." This is what gives us the tremendous varieties of plant life that we see today.
There is no evidence that plant life somehow evolved or changed into some other form of life. It is completely contrary to what we see in our time today. According to evolution, we find our roots of existence in the primitive plant life that eventually over enough time, changed into the many life forms that are on the Earth!
When you plant corn what to you get? Corn of course! Plant peas, you get peas! You don't plant corn and eventually over time and enough plantings get a horse. It just doesn't happen that way.
God showed us a spitual principle in the very beginning of creation. "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!"
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (NIV)
AND TREES BEARING FRUIT WITH SEED IN IT...
It was God's purpose for vegetation to bear fruit. I always find God's creation amazing. Think about how plants, trees, etc. have their seed inside themselves so that they can bear more fruit. Is it possible that these plants decided by themselves with no outside supernatural intervention to have the embryos for the next generations inside themselves? Could they have thought of something so ingenious by themselves?
Look at all of creation including human beings. We have the seed inside of us to produce "fruit." God has made all of creation that way. WHAT AN AMAZING GOD WE SERVE!
Just as God intended plant life to bear fruit, it is also His plan that we bear fruit. We bear fruit in populating the Earth but even more importantly, God expects us to bear fruit by leading other people into His Kingdom.
John 15:1-2 & 5 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardner. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit." "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in Him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (NIV)
John 15:16 "You did not chose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last. (NIV)
GOD EXPECTS US TO BEAR FRUIT!
"Day"/"yom" three is now done.
God saw that all was "GOOD." He was pleased with His creation.
