I didn’t have a clue
What I would do in grown-up life
When childhood days were through.
I wondered then if I would grow
As tall as my big brother,
Yet knew, for sure, I’d not get old
Just like my dear grandmother.
I had no clue in teen-age years
But hoped that I would be
A wife to someone wonderful
And have a family.
As time progressed from year to year,
Then I began to see
That God had worked out all along
The plans He had for me.
No longer clueless, now I know,
What I was meant to do.
I’ve husband, kids, and grandkids, too,
My hearts desire come true.
I worked as teacher many years,
And when that job was done,
Then writing books of poetry
Was what I did for fun.
It’s plain to see that I got old
Just like my dear grandmother,
But I’ve not managed yet to grow
As tall as my big brother.

Nice message too.
Suggested improvements?
Hard to find, although there are one or two lines I'd rethink to make it less awkward. e.g.
"I was a teacher...." rather than "I worked as teacher..." perhaps?
It seems though that God answered every prayer except the height request and this life was perfect like a 30 minute sitcom.
As many can relate, I cannot, but that goes to show we all have different callings in life.
May God continue to bless your mind with words so your hands can write.
Blessings~
I especially enjoyed your last line.
