Creeps up the darkened sky
And glides through tiers of pastel tints
With news that day is nigh,
Then shines forth from the highest heights
To reach what lies below,
Where vast extension of her rays
Will warmth and health bestow.
The clouds float gently to and fro
In shifting shapes of white.
Predicting rain is coming soon
For greenery delight.
Appears the pattering of drops
To plop upon the land,
Replenishing the nourishment
To meet the earth’s demand.
The wind’s a whisper at the first,
A softly blowing tease,
Until announcing storm is near
By bending low the trees.
The storm arrives with trumpeting,
A thunderous array
Of crashing cymbals, flashing lights’
Incredible display.
When azure turns to saffron shades
In purple hues ‘ashimmer,
The sky proclaims that night is near
And moon is soon to glimmer
And reign with stars till morning comes,
Again with golden greeting,
To hold sway o’er the firmament,
God’s ordinance repeating.
