Topic: BEAT AROUND THE BUSH (05/25/17)
"I'm very sorry to tell you this, but despite all our best efforts, your son isn't quite as ready as we'd anticipated to move up to the next level."

Interpretation: HE FAILED!

"I believe that the cut and style of that dress do not do your figure the justice that it deserves."

Interpretation: IT'S UGLY!

"If you consider all the aspects of this particular issue and how all the various outcomes, I strongly believe that you will probably reach the same conclusion as I have."

Interpretation: YOU'RE WRONG!


Hedging
Evasion
Prevarication

Call what you like, but stop beating around the bush. There is a time for careful wording, and a time to tell it to me straight. Speak the truth in love; don't avoid saying what's on your mind because you're worried about hurting my feelings.

Give it to me straight
Tell me the truth
Be frank
Be honest
For crying out loud
Just say what you mean!

I'm living in a world that wants to protect me, that worries about my feelings, that thinks I'm made of glass. If you treat me with kid gloves, I might think myself fragile. And then I will break

There's a time for everything
A time to be careful
And a time to be direct
Ask for the wisdom to know the difference

Too much tact can delay healing
Too much honesty can destroy a relationship

Where is the line?
You have to find it
but it is there
it's always there.

Say it with love
Say it because you care
Say it because you want to help
And always, always pray for wisdom
But please, please, please
Stop trying to protect me from every little thing.

I am not fragile
I will not break
And I want the truth

Although this had an unusual structure, it moves along with pace and keeps the reader fascinated as to where you're going. I especially liked the point you make about ending up feeling that we're fragile because of being treated that way. It's well thought out. Well done!
