As clothing pictures through the years are shown.
The blunders are revealed in steps and stages
To fashions of today—downright outrageous.
When mixing polka dots and stripes with plaid,
Designers must have gone completely mad.
Their match of hues in orange and red and pink
Shows just how muddle-headedly they think.
.
While flip-flop sandals once were for vacation,
They’re worn today for any type occasion.
Though at a formal wedding, goodness knows,
It’s strange to see so many dirty toes.
The changing lengths of skirts seem quite a pity
From lengths of max and mini to a midi,
And heels on shoes have grown to such a height
That ladies wearing stilts is quite the sight.
The hair styles look like wren or robins’ nests;
They even copy banty roosters’crests,
While some look like they’ve come through waters deep
And others like they’ve just waked up from sleep.
Since dressing now is what’s called gender neutral,
To tell the guys from gals is almost futile.
If we’d go back to how things used to be,
Perhaps we’d show more pride and modesty.
