How many miles to Cincinnati?
The nearest star—how far would that be?

Search engines take me for a ride
In seeking answers far and wide:

For pumpkin pie, new recipe,
And carrot cake, low calorie,

Ideas for a great vacation
In some exotic new location,

For bios of the less well known
Or child stars who have since then grown,

For national and worldwide news
And politicians’ latest views,

For cure and symptoms of disease
(I’ve wished I’d not checked some of these!),

To find familiar Bible quotes
Or study famous sermon notes,

For crossword puzzle words from clues
Or some new game that might amuse,

To understand technology,
New fangled things that baffle me,

For literary masterpieces
And Christian singers’ new releases,

For online shopping of all kinds
And local business sales and finds.

Web surf I these and many more;
Search engines show sites by the score.

Their usefulness do I extol,
But they can’t see inside the soul

Or read the heart of any man.
For that, it’s only God who can.

This is a wonderful poem! It flowed smoothly as it reminded us of the many places on the information highway a search engine can take you…but then it also ends wonderfully as it tells the limitation of a search engine, while reminding us of the limitlessness of God. So well crafted, enjoyable read with great message! Terrific job!

Poems aren't always my thing but this made me smile. You nailed the topic. It started beautifully and intrigued me. The flow was lovely, some of the rhymes didn't feel exactly right, but my ear can't always hear things. You did a beautiful job-

I love how your title alludes to the famous "How many miles to Babylon?" (so perfect for this topic). My favorite stanza here, "For pumpkin pie, new recipe,-- And carrot cake, low calorie," For rhyme, meter, and thought, it doesn't get any more perfect than that. This poem keeps building. I would grade this "Perfect++++"
