A quiet place to soothe my mind
A tranquil spot on land or sea
That lets me think and be just me
The junk I hear from dusk ‘til morn
From every iPod, phone, and horn
In air that’s full of blasting noise
Just brings me down and blows my poise
When rocket blare defines a culture
It circles like an evil vulture
Eating up what’s left of peace
There seems no way to make it cease
It clamors, jolts, or clangs a bell
As in and out it weaves its spell
My brain goes numb my nerves get tense
I cannot think, I’ve lost good sense
And all because it’s cool to crave
No pause or ban from birth to grave
Of rattles,rock,and endless rolls
That dulls most wit and wounds all souls
I choose to pause and shift my gears
To change my thoughts and save my ears
And maybe as I make this break
My heart can finally hear what’s fake
Discern and know God’s will for me
Escape the world’s dis-harmony
Not tolerate discordant lure
I’ll hum a new song, sweet and pure
I want to tip on quiet toe
To smell and feel the place I’ll go
To find refreshment's lovely hush
Deprived of constant roar, and such
Meantime, if the human race
Would hit delete, clear, or erase
We might find more serenity
But first…it has to start with me.

To smell and feel the place I’ll go
I agree, this is great. I do this each morning, but always despair as the day wears on that I can't stay there.

Finding a quiet place is always an act of will. Great poem.
Great poem, and had this peaceful "ssh" touch to it.
