and persecuted
in following Christ
You declare Your blessing
and a heavenly reward
I often wonder
reflecting on Your word
many of us have endured
Insults hardships and persecutions
for the sake of Christ
Yet You call us
blessed
You transform
the challenges in life
into praises and grace
Moments of hurt
and humiliation
but flow an eternity
of peace joy
and blessings above
Often I am quickly provoked
in my spirit and mind
like a fool I want to react
but in Your still quiet voice
Vengeance is mine You remind
My son
isn’t it easier
to pass by
twenty such affronts
than to avenge one
Lord I’m falling
I can’t restrain it
anymore
I feel like blowing up
Help me in my feeble plea
Search me O Lord
and see if there is
any wicked ways in me
try me and know my thoughts
deliver me from all evils I pray
When slandered
or bad-mouthed
help me stay calm
neither revenge or retaliate
but leave things in Your hand
May I be deaf
to jibe and barb
slur or slight
put-down or slap in the face
on Your strength and Spirit I rely
