ADD TO MY FAVORITES
With lunch and dinner stains.
It proves I’ve had enough to eat
When evidence remains.
I like to drop a plate or glass
Upon the kitchen floor
And hear it shatter on the tile,
Which I’ll sweep clean once more.
I like to walk into a pole.
The many stars I see
Will herald the arrival of
The headache soon to be.
I like to spill a cup of milk
Ere it can touch my lips.
The calories all run away
And never reach my hips.
I like to stumble when I walk.
It always draws a crowd,
And if I shed a tear or two,
I never cry out loud.
I like to fall when I sit down
And miss the chair completely,
Then look to see who’s watching me
As I get up discreetly.
Of course I’m kidding—I don’t want
To be a clumsy lady,
And though I joke, I can’t complain
For how the good Lord made me.
