Nothing gets accomplished if you never even try
No ignition for ambition--bright minds are meant to flourish
We’re here for a purpose--life’s a gift that must be nourished
Go observe the farmer as he’s working in his fields
Praising God for needed rain and again at harvest’s yield
His toiling hands grow many crops, his days are hard and long
Winter brings the needed rest so by Spring he’s fresh and strong
Close your eyes while you listen to the concert in the park
Notes dance, sigh and skip along--feelings stir in human hearts
Busy fingers play the tunes that now come easily
But it took years of practice for your pleasure--don’t you see
Carpenters build our homes, gifted doctors help us heal
Teachers share their knowledge, ironworkers shape raw steel
Dreams can fuel a goal which help each life come alive
But pointless, empty days mean dreams cannot survive
I’m asking you, my children--which gift from Me will you share
Wondering just what it is--come, ask, I’ll hear your prayer
Then you can make a difference and not just take up space
When each one does their share, the world’s a better place
Each gift that stays unopened is being wasted, that’s for sure
A still dormant researcher may hold keys to needed cures
Do you feel a nudge to fight fires or balance justice scales
Maybe study and teach scripture so Christianity prevails
We were not born for handouts, to take and not give back
But to help one another through trials and times of lack
And when we give our all and never stop trying to do more
Then laziness will not destroy those dreams within our core
