Wow- what a powerful piece! I love the repetition of the words mixed with the falling rain. Well done!
Wow. I can so empathize with the MC. Kids know how to cut us and cut us deep. Yet Jesus is there to remind us of his unconditional love. We don't have to be perfect parents (which is impossible) for him to love us, or even for our kids to love us. I remember telling my mom I hated her. Her hurt look was worse than any punishment ever. I had hurt her, worse--disappointed her. She forgave me, and I never forgot that lesson. My mom was an amazing mom, no matter what I said in my teen years. Your story reminded me that as much as Mom loved me, it didn't compare to God's love. I like how you wove the topic throughout this lovely piece. Parent to parent, I'd like to tell all parents what my mom would say so much it drove me nuts. Now I say it (and drive others nuts): Keep your chin up and your eyes on the Lord.

I love this piece. It is surprisingly comforting. Living in rainy Oregon, I will keep this perspective in mind. Thank you.
