I thought we’d never ever part
When you loved me long ago
Now you offer painful blows...
Please touch me with a loving heart.

I am appalled at your ghastly face
As you lash out with such force
You are a master of vast resource...
Please touch me with a warm embrace.

With immense effort now I stand
Trembling as I see you draw near
My body shying away with fear...
Please touch me with gentle hands.

Your look quenched hope to rise
Vile are your feints towards me
You reek with steamed revelry...
Please touch me with caring eyes.

Fleeing from your evil presence
At long last I see the light
A mad bad dream, a hellish flight...
Don’t touch me with your rotting essence.

A story of love turned into domination, power, and abuse. How a loving heart from God can be twisted by Satan for such eternal harm, I'll never understand.

I too have felt these emotions first hand. Backsliding spouses are so powerfully oppressive as we tumble and stumble in the remembrance of what they can and used to be, but continue to walk under the enemy's hand and fling their pain. Great job on conveying the ugly truth of this dilemma.
