Mockery and spite
Bitterness and rage
Self-seeking love
Cruelty and strife
Malice and envy
An unbridled life

The tears of Heaven fall unchecked
The tears of Heaven fall

Innocent blood
Crying from the ground
Women and children
Battered around
Men seeking men
Lust burning red
Women with women
Defiling the bed

The tears of Heaven fall unchecked
The tears of Heaven fall

Gathering knowledge
To puff up the mind
Depending on stars
To lead and to guide
Looking to science
To right every wrong
Announcing to all
There’s no way to god

The tears of Heaven fall unchecked

Children of Heaven
Safe and secure
Inside the four walls
Trying to stay pure
Never to reach out
And never to touch
The dirty and broken
The losers and such

Love growing cold
Compromised lives
Busy and barren
Taking no sides
Bibles unopened
Prayer closets bare
Pews full and warm
But nobody’s there

Unfortunately true. I was waiting for a glimpse of hope at the end — the poem is very good, but it left me hanging. Nevertheless, well done.

Very well written. So true and sad as there are so many needs and broken lives. I just was hoping for some light to shine through but this speaks clearly that we can't take a back seat as christians but must take the time to get to know the Lord on a daily basis and carry on the message of His love.

I like the poem the way that it is. It is fitting of our world, and does not need a happier conlusion.
