This is a true story, not about a false attitude in me but about a “false Jesus”. Fourteen years ago, Satan, the father of lies, put upon me a five-month bout with manic depression. He called himself Jesus, that voice in my head. This MUST really be my lord, I thought. I questioned his identity but, each time, my thoughts were plagued by guilt and remorse. I believed he was my husband, literally … not in the biblical sense (Isaiah 54:5 New International Version). It wasn't sexual or even romantic, just a fact in my new reality. How could I not believe? Yet, very deep inside, I knew the truth. Was the voice a demon or just the product of my sick mind?
He told me I would be martyred for his sake and that I would die quickly. He told me what all the symbols and numbers meant that I was visualizing when I tried to sleep. I identified the voice as he, not realizing it was my own voice.
While talking to the Jesus personae, I was at peace. But, eventually, the voices increased and became threatening and abusive. Although always considered pretty, they told me that I was so ugly, even Satan wouldn't want me. They threatened to send snakes to circle my ankles if I didn't ask for sex from a female friend. When I refused, I felt the snakes! They threatened to kill me and anyone I told about them.
Hospitalized for four months, I was released to be with my dying mother and then drive back to the hospital. My family prayed continuously with me about the illness and that there would be no brain damage from the electroshock treatments.
Jesus lifted the fog, and I was able to see the false Jesus for who he was. The manic-depression was gone forever! No more mental agony or police escorts with handcuffs that left bruises for three weeks.
The real Jesus replaced the impersonator, and I was free! He was there all the time, but I could not see him. He showed himself in a way not seen before, as a superhero to save the day. But, isn't that who he is in everyone's life? Our savior indeed!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (II Timothy 1:7 King James Version). Non-fiction.

Grateful that our enemy is defeated, however he sure can go about like a roaring lion and I'm sorry that you had to go through that, but now are delivered and set free and have a powerful testimony.
I like the verse you quoted.
I say that one among others, almost every morning prior to getting out of bed and often when I feel the fiery darts of the enemy.
Thank you for your transparency.
