It was our daily routine to discuss food items at pre-school while we were eating lunch. That way we could teach kids about how food is grown, what colors they are, and why they are good for us to eat. This particular day, I don’t remember what the food item was, but I sure remember the response given by Johnny.
“OK kids, where did this come from?” I asked, trying to get their attention.
“Jesus,” Johnny shouted.
“Jesus?” I questioned if I heard him right.
“Yes, Jesus. He makes all the plants and animals and He made me and He made all people,” he said quite loudly, and with confidence that he knew the right answer. He proceeded to give a Bible lesson on all the things that Jesus did.
Johnny had no idea he wasn’t supposed to talk about Jesus in school. He believed the truth and spoke it out boldly.
Awhile back, a co-worker found out that my sister and I had played and sang for a women’s mother-daughter banquet. So, she asked if we would also come and sing for her pre-school class. We accepted with one condition, that we could sing our regular gospel songs. To our amazement, she reluctantly accepted, and the kids all happily joined in to sing “Jesus Loves Me.”
Sharing our faith of Jesus in schools, at work, or anywhere may become harder and harder in these end times without the threat of losing our jobs, being put in prison, or being persecuted in some way. Yet, we should never be afraid to stand up for what we believe.
The Apostle Paul was put in prison numerous times for preaching Christ and the Resurrection. Never once did that stop him from going out and preaching again with boldness. Many other apostles and Christians of that day spoke their faith boldly in spite of threats to their lives.
The times are here again when the threat of persecution for preaching the Gospel is possible and probable here in America. Are we willing to share Jesus even if it means harassment, imprisonment, or even death? Scripture says, “Whosoever, therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father, (Matt. 10:32,33).
Knowing that the days are short, should compel us to let our voices be heard, louder, stronger, and with confidence, that many might be saved before it is too late. Let us boldly profess our faith, with the confidence of a four-year-old, that Jesus is the answer for all.
