on my stage, for all to see
clapping hands and hoots and hollers,
all you glorifying me. won’t you
put me on a pedestal and
stroke my ego, please, send me
fan-mail e-mail complementing
me and only me. I am
worth your admiration, I am
worthy of your praise, all my
talent, poise and posture
picture perfect in all ways. I am
god-like, I am filthy rich and
filthy rich I’ll stay, just don’t
ask me any questions ‘bout
the price I’ll have to pay. for my
stature, for my placement in this
gold society, it’s a
bloody climb up to the top of
immortality. it may
cost me my integrity, my
family and friends, I don’t
care, I’ll pay it gladly, I will
reap its dividends.
life is short so live it quickly, cast
your cares upon the wind, what’s a
little compromising, tell me
what’s a little sin? if it
gets me what I want, makes me
famous and well known, what a
pity being lonely, what a
crime to be alone. I can
grab and get what’s coming, I can
gain a life that’s whole, but please
tell me how to live a life, a life
without my soul.
