Topic: Fame (05/10/12)
I am just a lowly man
Struggling the best I can.
Being great isn’t real
No one knows just how I feel.

I think it is a shame
No one here knows my name.
All the writing that I’ve done
Is not remembered by anyone.

I will walk in this space
Wandering from place to place.
Trying the best I can
But all my hopes have changed to sand.

I stand in my emptiness
Trying just to do my best.
I thought fame was not to be
As I sunk in misery.

Sadness reached my very bone
Lets me feeling all alone.
So I wander all around
Happiness cannot be found.

What can I do where can I go
Being unknown hurts me so.
I know I have done my best
Tell me how to pass the test.

Then someone said, “talk to God”
This to me seemed so odd.
Why would He do for me
When I dwell in sin you see?

Then they said, “don’t you fret
All you sins He will forget.
The sins you do He’ll understand
He’ll still help you when He can.”

In His eye you have such fame
In his palm He wrote your name.
Even if people don’t know
God our Father loves you so.
Because in heaven you are great
At heavens gate you will not wait.
The angels and the spirits too
Love everything you do.

That’s the only fame I seek
It lifts me up when I am weak.
It guarantees a place was made
Thru Jesus death the price was paid.

Because of it I have found
My name is known all over town.
So these words I write my friend
Will have their meaning until the end.

Thanks to Him I have that fame.
Without Him it’s not the same.

This is so lovely. I really get how you feel, starting off in a dark and lonely place, searching...but for what? Then God pulls you in.

The only thing I might mention is to be a bit more aware of the rhythm pattern and try to keep the same number of syllables in each stanza. (many lines have 7 but some have 9)

You really touched my heart with your words. I think this is an excellent way to process how so many people feel alone and left out of life but God knows us all.
