Obtaining Christ-Like Integrity

What Is Integrity?

According to Oxford Languages Dictionary online, “integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.” It is also the “state of being whole and undivided.” “Unity,” is a common synonym for integrity. Integrity is a quality or characteristic embedded within an individual’s personality.

Morally sound individuals have a lot of integrity. Individuals with integrity have firm boundaries. They are not just going to act any way or do anything they want to do. They live according to Jehovah God’s law of faith by grace. God’s laws guide their thoughts, opinions, and actions. Integrity is a quality of God’s kingdom (Romans 14:17).

How Do We Obtain Christ-Like Integrity/Righteousness?

“For as by one man’s (Adam) disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous,” (Romans 5:19). We obtain righteousness (our integrity) from Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. We being made upright through the shedding of Christ’s blood on the cross for our sins have obtained Christ-like integrity and salvation. Salvation is a free gift given to us by God. The first step in obtaining this salvation or gift of eternal life is through confession. “That if thou shalt confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation,” (Romans 10: 9-10).

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” (1 John 1:9). If we confess our sins and repent of them; God promises this covenant of righteousness. “For this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be my people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more,” (Hebrews 8:10-12).

Christ makes us righteous through our faith in him. “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith,” (Romans 4:13).

Who Is the Spirit of Integrity/The Spirit of Truth?

All born again Christians are freely given through belief in Christ, The Spirit of Truth/The Spirit of Integrity, who is the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit. “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you, (John 14:16-17).

The Spirit of Integrity (Holy Spirit) dwells within us and produces fruits of “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such is no law,” (Galatians 5:22-23). Bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit is evidence of your Godly integrity. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are the manifestations of your righteousness through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

The Spirit of Integrity as a Unifying Force.

The Holy Spirit/The Spirit of Truth unified all those believers in Christ on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place (Acts 2:1). “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance,” (Acts 2:4) “Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost,” (Acts 2:38).

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:” (Acts 2:41). “And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need,”
(Acts 2: 44-45). We should seek to be Christians with great integrity, bearing plentifully the fruits of the Spirit.

You definitely nailed the topic. I've often said some of the best challenge entries that hit the topic often never mention the topic name. I think you'll be surprised how many times you used it. Another piece of advice is never start an article with a definition. Instead allow your read to understand the definition by your words. This makes a great Bible study. I think you pointed out some great verses that really back your message. Along with suggested verses for the reader to read, consider adding some examples from life or how people might react to these verses to give the readers something to consider. I can tell you did a lot of research and thought to deliver this important message.
