No One Knows the Day or Hour, not even the angels of heaven. Saints, what we must understand is Jesus will come like a thief in the night. So we must all be vigilant and do a better job while waiting, as the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God; being honestly transparent; I have been somewhat cavalier about some of my actions.
In the Book of James, Paul wrote to his fellow Christians, including you and me today. His words were: When you encounter various trials, we are all aware of what Paul experienced in his life, including much pain and suffering. And we all experience that un-expected re-occurring bump in the road. We are also told in Ephesians 6:12 (ISV), " For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm." I have a question for you, and you need to be very honest with yourself. Are you waking up earlier so that you can adequately put on the armor of God for the day (studying the Bible)?
When Paul wrote his letter, a Christians' great concern was never knowing when they would come under the helpless subject of their countries' cruel invading warmongers.
At this time, the Roman Army was the brutal invading force besieged upon God's chosen people. I once heard that we could not honestly know our resolve until we are persecuted or in a life and death situation. One might wonder, would I run, compromise, or trust God in a temporary death? My mind immediately goes to Jesus Christ and the repenting criminal in (Luke 23: 42-43 NKJV): Then he said to Jesus, " Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom."
(43) And Jesus said to him, " Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." I challenge you to read or re-read Luke chapter 23 in its entirety; it will re-adjust your outlook of today's thinking.
We never know when we will draw our last breath; you see, we are not guaranteed five minutes from now. Do you presently have your reservation for your residence in the New Jerusalem (Heaven)? Who knows the distance from where you are currently standing, give, or take a few feet? You may be just inches from your mansion in heaven.
You are encouraged as I, too, be expectantly waiting. Remember, Who knows?
