My heavenly home is bright and fair,
I feel like travelling home.
During the week, I found myself singing that song, and suddenly one evening, the words struck me, and I thought of death, and trembled. The fear of death gripped me; I scared to die. I looked over to my sleeping husband and woke him up. I said to him, “I am going to die, but I don't want to ...” His eyes then were wide opened staring at me speechless. I muttered, “Who's going to take care of you...I don't want to die. Pray for me, Allan!" He stretched out his hand and touched mine, and prayed. The fear subsided, and I went back to bed.
As I lay in bed, the thought of death tormented me, and I questioned myself, “why am I afraid. I should be happy—happy to meet my Lord..." I was so scared that my heart fluttered. But at that moment, the Grace of God stepped in, and I remembered His promise to me. I opened my mouth and declared His Word: “I shall not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord.” His Word delivered me from the spirit of fear. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind.” 11Timothy 1:7.
I am no longer afraid of death. My husband has gone on to his heavenly home, waiting for me to join him. In that home, no sickness nor death can enter in.
