“I am going to church tomorrow. I like going and it buffs up my spirit,” said JJ.
“Bully for you; I will see it all on-line without having to pretend that I like people, smile and dress up. I am tired. I worked all week and it is my day of rest.” yelled Paul. Passerbys glanced their way but he did not care.
JJ responded as calmly as he could, “Paul, what shall I tell Pastor? Are you the youth leader? Who is going to teach the teenagers? They look forward to seeing you there.”
“Tell him that I’ll see him next week, maybe.” said Paul.
“I think you are in a bit of a crisis. Doing too much and maybe you need a break but all I know is that the Word says -
“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”{Hebrews 10:25} Communal worship and praise restore my faith and I feel hope and joy when I hear the Word reinforced by the hymns and the preaching. The people of God are not perfect but we share a common faith and there is hidden strength in that which words cannot describe.
Brother, let’s not fight about this. It won’t serve any good purpose.” added JJ quietly.
“Okay - so you say that going to church is better than not. What if I was in a retirement home or in the hospital and could not go?” retorted Paul.
JJ thought for a minute and then said “I would try to find someone to take me or I will use whatever on-line services I could find. In fact, I know lots of people who watch ‘church’ all week long from different ministries like TBN, CBN, Godtv and UCB. Many Christians watch daily news, movies, teaching, evangelical and prophetic ‘goodies’ on their tv and iPhones.”
“For Christians, it’s not about just going to the church building” he added with a smile.
Let us agree to disagree and please let’s stay friends, matey. I will see you at church next week!” he added.
As they parted ways both Paul and JJ had things to think about.

I was slightly confused about why a leader of a youth group would neglect to tell anyone that he would no longer be coming to church.
You raised several good points.
