It is true that "keeping the peace" often involves one party keeping their true feelings bottled up. I guess out of fear or anxiety or whatever. The other party, however, is unloving to always tout their side and never stop long enough to listen. A relationship can never progress without true communication.
Thoughtful poem. I do think that assertiveness is sometimes warranted. You can state your own view in a way that acknowledges both sets of views in a respectful manner.
