things have to be my way,
I'll be a Martha any day
even if it's a role play.
I may be pernickety
I may be a pain,
think of the order,
my fussing may gain.
The Martha's of this world
have a neurotic need to please,
they can never be at ease,
a trait of sin appeased.
This way, that way, must be right
till I'm content at the very sight,
fussing unnecessarily now,
don't want to look a silly fright.
Martha you are too busy,
Mary had a better role,
listening to Jesus now,
learning to be made whole.
People who are fussy and worried
with anxious trifles
worry other people
with less scruples.
Frills, furbelows and more
rings and necklaces galore,
things of this world
do not make a lady sure.

Your poem brought a smile to my face. I've always had a spot in my heart for Martha who was left with the cooking and cleaning.
