Then she heard an authoritative male voice say “Go back to your house!”
The words were so very compelling that she immediately spun around, dropped her bags and walked as quickly as her legs would allow her to. She unlocked her front door.
She could not see anything amiss in her front room so she went further in and looked everywhere in all the rooms except the kitchen.
“Still nothing” she said aloud to herself.
The last room she checked was the kitchen. She gasped in horror at what she saw.
The aluminum saucepan on her gas cooker was ablaze.
She had put on a pan filled with water to boil and had totally forgotten it. The cooker was on high.
Very quickly she turned off the cooker and using an oven glove thrust the red hot pan into the sink.
In deep gratitude she stumbled out of the hot kitchen to her living room and cried out to God
“Thank you God! Thank you!”
Firstly she had never heard God’s audible voice before. She felt such deep gratitude. Secondly if He had not spoken and if she had not listened she would have lost her home and so many irreplaceable family valuables to fire. The gas would have fuelled the flames.
The lesson she learnt here was always to check her cooker before leaving the house. She silently asked the Holy spirit to remind her in case she ever forgot again. She also knew without a doubt that she was loved by God and that he cared for his children in practical ways.
“I must tell my church and my children.
Look what the Lord has done!”
