I’ve attended many events lately where the announcer asked people to stand, face the flag and pledge allegiance. As I watch the flag billowing in the breeze, tears spring to my eyes and my heart swells when I recite our Pledge and remember my Grandfather who fought in the War to give me the freedom to do this. Then I think, wouldn’t it be wonderful if these same people who love their flag, would love and honor Jesus Christ, who made the ultimate sacrifice and died for our sins? John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
When the World Series ended the stadiums were packed with people wearing their favorite team’s color. Fans couldn’t wait to get off work and head home to watch as each game was played. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if people would flock to worship our Lord?
I’ve pondered lately about people’s obsessions and compared it to how we should live our daily lives. Take football for instance. Now, that’s a game I’ve never understood, try as I might. Friday Night Lights is like a religion itself. Fans again flock to the stadiums to cheer their team on and travel long distances in support of their team, their kids and the band. Saturday College football is all people talk about and then comes Sunday and professional football. Many people leave church early to catch the noon game or they skip church altogether. They can’t miss a minute of the game. I’m not trying to be judgmental, I’m really not. This is my rambling mind at work. People give up hours and days for their beloved sports. Can they not give one hour to our Lord Jesus Christ? Wouldn’t it be wonderful?
I could go on and on with comparisons. There is our love of Television and movies, the movie star’s weddings and even their deaths. These “loves” are put on a hero’s pedestal. I’m not any better than anyone else. I’ve been guilty of putting material things ahead of what I should be doing.
Take this Blog for instance. I sat down with my morning cup of coffee and began my day writing about my ponderings. What I should have done is opened my Bible and had breakfast and coffee with Christ.
Tomorrow is a brand new day, full of His mercy, forgiveness and grace. I’ll talk to you then, after I have my time with Christ.

Love the bit or irony at the end.
I wasn't sure how old the MC was. At first,I thought she was a young teen or even pre-teen but then kids 13or 14 don't usually drink coffee.
I think the ending was your strongest part. You made me smile and gave me quite a bit to think about. I can feel your passion in your words.
God Bless~
