People who gave God renown are people I would have noticed.
They stand out for what they accomplished
They were recklessly obedient. They heard God’s Voice. They obeyed His call.
If I lived in his day I would have noticed Noah.
He stood out because of his blind obedience to God’s command
To build a big ship for a promised flood,
in a land where it had never rained.
If I lived in his day I would have noticed Abel
Who sacrificed sheep to God.
His father was a farmer
And his brother offered fruits.
If I lived in his day I would have noticed Abraham
Who left family and home to travel west.
Seeking a land he had never seen;
in obedience to God.
I would have noticed Moses, an Israeli and
A prince reared in Egyptian riches,
Then a pauper accused of murder;
Seeking freedom for his people and demanding release.
I would have noticed the prophet Samuel,
Fearless while challenging sin in the people of God,
Dedicated from birth, by a mother of faith
To the service of God.
I would have noticed the prostitute Rahab,
Who stood out for helping those strangers
who were spies in her land
and was in the line of Jesus.
I would have noticed young Ruth, gleaning corn
on the edge of a field,
being noticed by her rich cousin,
and sleeping at his feet.
I would have noticed orphaned Esther,
A Jewish queen of a great heathen kingdom,
Daring to go unbidden before a king
so she could save her people.
I would have noticed unmarried, pregnant Mary,
and that brave man Joseph.
Two deviants in that culture,
carrying The Seed, The Offspring of God.
I would have noticed fishermen Peter, Simon and Andrew.
To whom Jesus said “Follow me”.
So they left family and friends, and followed Him.
Christ’s outstanding examples of living as He lived;
And loving as He loved, and
shining His Light in our dark world
are things that I noticed.
So I have noticed Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah.
Outspoken yet humble, and doing miracles,
showing me The Way, and then dying for me.
My challenge to you today is to notice Jesus Christ;
my Holy Lord and Savior for His outstanding obedience.
He suffered crucifixion so that you might be set free.
