The fact it, we have been able to make something out of the opportunities that come our way and the resources which have been handed to us. Even in those difficult times we have still been able to turn that situation around into something profitable because of the people, structures, institutions and resources available to us.
What about those people you didn’t seem to have received anything in this life. They certainly don’t have juicy oranges handed over to them or even lemons. They have nothing at all to work with. These people can barely have a day’s meal, shelter or clothing.
The parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) made it very clear that it wasn’t about being handed oranges or more oranges than others but its about what you do with them. If you acknowledge that you have received many oranges but you decide to keep them to yourself and do nothing with them, then you are misusing your oranges (resources).
It is interesting to find a link between the lack of investment or multiplication of resources and its misuse. Because we often think that if we have an orange and after 10 years we still have that orange by doing everything it takes to keep it, then we haven’t wasted the orange. This is not the case. But rather, if we have an orange and we ensure that the orange is multiplied or made into another resource so that there is more for other people then we have not wasted the orange.
The greatest use of the resources and opportunities the Lord has given to us is to invest them into other lives because that kind of investment multiplies and lasts. But then all we do with our resources or oranges are hoarding it for security.
We have the thought that when we give it and allow others to benefit, we will be losing it. But that is a fake truth. We only receive more when we invest and give it out (Luke 6:38). You only receive more of what you use not what you keep, and this is made clear in the parable.
I often say that God didn’t make us barrels to hold the things He gives us. He made us large tea pots to pour out and fill others as He keeps refilling us.
So, then what are you doing with your oranges while others suffer silently. What you can do is to give out some of those oranges to those who have nothing at all so they can make something out of it.
Better still, you can simply give out some of the great things you have done with the oranges and lemons which were handed over to you. They can either enjoy the benefits of what you have been able to make out of your life or they can also make something out of their lives with those valuable resources. Let’s help others to have a tasty, nourishing and fulfilling life.
Most people do not only have the resources (oranges) but also the opportunity to turn certain resources into great life achievements (orange juice). But they have hands to be able to accept what we are able to give to them only if we are willing to do so.
Don’t waste your oranges or lemons, there is so much potential for them, only if you would look beyond your backyard. We have the ability to change lives and put smiles on the faces of many.
So, what are you going to do with your oranges?
