Prayers

Times are tense in our nation, in our world. Even so, we Christians have a hope that the world cannot understand. Yet still, we fear.....

So I ask :

Why does it seem to take tragedies, trials and horrific or monumental events in our lives to cause us to seek the Lord’s face? Is it only those times that we can remember that we are not lord of our universe? Is it only those times that we realize our own humanity, and that answers or solutions will not come from within ourselves?

Daily, hourly, moment by moment, we are beckoned by the King of Kings to walk in relationship with Him, yet our feet too infrequently seek His path, our chairs all too rarely rest under His table of provision.

We sing of His mercies and generosity during our praise services, but lie awake at night trying to solve the events of our own chaotic lives, all the while doubting and blaming Him for the details..


We read aloud that our God will supply all our needs, yet white knuckle our way through life, afraid to allow Him to live up to His Word.


God, forgive us, for trivializing your majesty. Forgive us for not meeting you at the Cross, where the Word becomes the sword in our lives, separate fact from fiction in our faith. Teach us afresh to rely on your Word – both Logos and Rhema – for your Word became flesh and dwelt among us, that in you alone we might find life.
